This award commemorates the service of Water Environment Federation Past-President Dr. Ralph E. Fuhrman, who was a master of collaboration among the academicians and practitioners. The Medal promotes and rewards extraordinary collaborative work by two or more people.

The Medal-worthy collaboration must have made a demonstrated positive impact on advancing the water quality profession by increasing the knowledge base, demonstrating the application of innovative scientific concepts or innovative project implementation methods as part of water quality enhancement projects and enhancing the relationship between academia and clean water practitioners. 

Criteria:

i. Members of the Water Environment Federation
ii. Medal-worthy collaboration must have advanced the water quality profession by:
     A. Increasing the knowledge base
     B. Demonstrating the application of innovative scientific concepts or innovative project implementation methods as part of water quality enhancement projects
     C. Enhancing the relationship between academia and clean 
water practitioners.
iii. The successful nomination will recognize a team comprised of:
     A. At least one academician (e.g. faculty representing research and/or non-research institutions)
     B. At least one practitioner (e.g. water quality professionals representing regulatory agencies, consultancies, not for profit organizations, equipment manufacturers, treatment plant/facility operators, and/or utilities). 

Submit:

  •  Nomination Form
  •  One page (maximum) description of the medal worthy effort (e.g., reason for nomination).
  •  One page (maximum) description of the team members responsible for the collaborative effort.
  •  Supporting material that you feel would be helpful in communicating how the collaborative effort meets or exceeds the selection criteria.

A final copy of your nomination must be received by April 1.
